William Kwamena-Poh

I am a self-taught artist from Ghana, West Africa, and most of my work dwells on scenes from my home that I photograph on visits there and use as reference for my paintings. I paint with opaque watercolor on watercolor paper using the dry brush method, which basically means its not wet on wet. My goal is to share my country in its true light and build a bridge to a more perfect understanding of Ghana and the African continent as a whole. Images of fishermen working around their boats, market scenes, women and children are the themes that dominate my work. My focus is on light and how it reflects on us.
