Tony Savoie

With a background in advertising and commercial printing, I have an interest in art as communication as well as personal expression. In my work, broad topics like power, politics, consumerism, poverty, social justice, and the environment are mixed with personal vision, humor, absurdity, irony, and dreams. Many of the primary images are very accessible, with hope that the corresponding layers initiate a dialog beyond a purely visual experience. The technical process has evolved around an obsession with layering. Most of this work combines collage, found objects, painting, clear acrylic, epoxy resin, and varnishes, often in a shadow box format

My work is an investigation of both technique and expression. I work within two distinct and different bodies of pieces; the goblets, and the bronze and glass sculptural vessels to develop the colored patterns and textures. I very much create an elegant object who’s roots are ancient but have a refined contemporary feel. The bronze and glass pieces are very expressive. They are both exotic and mysterious. I strive to create a truly vocative object.
