Tom Sadler

Orlando artist Tom Sadler has created a truly beautiful poster that captures the spirit of The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. Sadler works in oils because of their inherent versatility and permanence. He utilizes consistencies of paint that alternate from very transparent to very opaque. His glazing techniques imbue his work with an unmistakable sense of light. This depiction of light and its manifestations becomes the subject in most of Sadler’s works. I have enjoyed painting scenes of Winter Park for many years. “Stroll on the Avenue” captures the image of an early evening view of Park Avenue looking towards a familiar icon, the Colony. I wanted to depict the whole panorama of the Colony, the street and the people enjoying a nice walk down the opposite sidewalk with a colorful sunset in the background.
