My work links landscape's reality and imagination. I investigate the dynamics of landscape, the manipulation of its effects, the limits of spectacle, and our assumptions of what landscape means. Then an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination. I respond to the surrounding environment and use everyday experiences as a starting point. Often these are images that would go unnoticed in their original context. Originally from the Credit River Valley of Ontario, Canada, I lived and painted for six years in Alberta, Canada. I then moved to the United States and spent 22 years painting in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Currently I reside and work from studios in Sarasota, Florida and Chisago City, Minnesota. The paintings are done entirely with brushwork. There are no airbrushing, digital, photographic or projection processes involved. I do numerous art festivals and shows throughout the country and have paintings in many collections in The United States, Canada and Europe.

My love of landscape was stirred by growing up along side the Credit River Valley in Ontario, Canada. It continued by spending six years near the Rockies of Alberta and by painting for 22 years in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The paintings are impressionistic but appear hyper-realistic when viewed from any distance. They generally depict actual landscape but in some cases are fictional. Each painting is created entirely with brushwork. The dark values are laid in first and then layers of colour and light are worked over the blues and purples. There are no airbrushing, digital or photographic processes involved.
