I have been exploring color since I was 5 or 6 years old. My painting is the result of my constant curiosity and inspection of the abstract shapes contained in both the urban and natural landscapes combined with my complete love affair with color. Using printmaking paper (Rives BFK) or canvas and any combination of acrylics, inks, liquid watercolor, soft pastels, oil pastels, pastel pencils and regular pencils, I add dynamic brush strokes, saturated color and brilliant contrast to create vibrant abstract paintings. I start with a photograph or design idea, then think color and begin. Usually I pour the inks, move them around by hand or with a brush or spatula, scrape into them with a variety of tools found at the hardware store, let the inks dry and finalize the painting with soft pastel, pencil and/or charcoal.
