Robin Frisella

Robin Frisella, PSA-MP, IAPS/MC, is renowned for breathtaking photo-realistic pastel still life compositions that transport viewers into realms of peace and tranquility. Each of her meticulously crafted pieces is a labor of love, arranged with everyday elements – apples, antique bowls, layered peonies, delicate eucalyptus leaves, cherished pitchers. Her artistry shines through in the intricate layers of pastel that capture nuances of the light, shadows, and tones that infuse her works with serene beauty, hope, and calm. Her accolades include national and regional awards. As a juried member of institutions like the Guild of Boston Artists, her talent is widely recognized. Achievements include being honored as a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America in 2016 and attaining Masters Circle status with IAPS in 2022. Robin's work has been recently featured in the Pastel Journal for her exceptional performance in the 2024 Pastel 100 competition, where she received the Fifth Place Award and an honorable mention.

Robin is a juried member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Copley Society of Art and a signature member of PSNH. In 2016, she received the designation of Master Pastelist from the Pastel Society of America. In 2022, Robin achieved Masters Circle status with IAPS (the International Association of Pastel Societies). Robin's work has been published in many books and magazines. Her most recent feature and cover was in the spring issue of the Pastel Journal for three awards she received in the 2022 Pastel 100 competition, the Dakota Pastel Gold Award and two honorable mentions.

"From the moment I picked up my first pastel, it felt like second nature to me. I am fascinated with the way light is represented and am focusing on capturing it in my paintings. I apply layer after layer of soft and hard pastels on Wallis Sanded paper to achieve tones, lights and texture. I feel that this method gives my work a realistic quality." Although Robin has a passion for portraiture she is principally a still life painter. Robin creates each scene with an arrangement of traditional objects, adding fabric, flowers, and fruit to portray a timeless elegance. Robin's work has garnered numerous national and regional awards. She has been elected a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a juried member of the Copley Society of Boston. Robin teaches and exhibits her work at her studio: Frisella Fine Art Studio in Candia, NH.
