Robin Frisella

Robin Frisella is known for her photo-realistic pastel still life scenes, scenes that evoke feelings of peace and tranquility – apples in an antique bowl, peonies elegantly layered, eucalyptus leaves against a porcelain pitcher. Robin energizes each scene's tones, lights, and shadows, with the gentle power of layered pastel. Robin is a juried member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Copley Society of Art and a signature member of PSNH. In 2016, she received the designation of Master Pastelist from the Pastel Society of America. In 2022, Robin achieved Masters Circle status with IAPS (the International Association of Pastel Societies). Robin's work has been published in many books and magazines. Her most recent feature and cover was in the spring issue of the Pastel Journal for three awards she received in the 2022 Pastel 100 competition, the Dakota Pastel Gold Award and two honorable mentions.

"From the moment I picked up my first pastel, it felt like second nature to me. I am fascinated with the way light is represented and am focusing on capturing it in my paintings. I apply layer after layer of soft and hard pastels on Wallis Sanded paper to achieve tones, lights and texture. I feel that this method gives my work a realistic quality." Although Robin has a passion for portraiture she is principally a still life painter. Robin creates each scene with an arrangement of traditional objects, adding fabric, flowers, and fruit to portray a timeless elegance. Robin's work has garnered numerous national and regional awards. She has been elected a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a juried member of the Copley Society of Boston. Robin teaches and exhibits her work at her studio: Frisella Fine Art Studio in Candia, NH.
