My background in my native country of Chile was in architecture, but I discovered my passion for creating fine art jewelry many years ago and now I use many of the same design principles I used in architecture to bring my jewelry designs to life. My aim is to create unique yet wearable pieces of jewelry utilizing highquality gemstones and precious metals. My designs are characterized by clean, uncluttered lines, and I love to incorporate little details that offer an element of surprise when looking at the piece from a particular angle. I create every piece individually, hand-sculpting it in wax around the shape of the stone or stones I am using in that design. Many designs require carving more than one component, which I solder together later after casting them separately in 14/18K gold. I employ a wide variety of stone-setting methods, often using a combination of several, in order to give each piece its own special look. I love what I do and truly think there is no better job in the world than taking a mere idea in one's head and turning it into a thing of beauty which brings pleasure to someone else.
