Michael Baxley

I start with porcelain clay to form traditional functional shapes and vessels. The bottle or bowl shapes are then grouped together to form a sculptural piece that makes a larger statement about the world around us. I enjoy using groupings of everyday recognizable objects to get the viewer to look at them in a different and imaginative way. I want the pieces to be useful as well as decorative and able to stand alone as one piece.
