Li Wang

Wang was born into an artist family with oriental cultural influence. He graduated from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in China with a BA in Fine Arts and History of Art. Afterward, he went on many journeys to Europe, where he was exposed to, and was greatly inspired by, the paintings of Rembrandt and Vermeer. His professional life has been devoted to combining western technique with oriental philosophy – using the western oil painting language to create a sense of peace, tranquility and harmonious world, with oriental mystery – which are clearly illustrated in his exquisite chiaroscuro paintings of still life. Li Wang's artful manipulation and painterly approach are paramount in terms of form and light – distinguishing light from dark shadow in a dramatic fluid style – fulfilling his personal obligation to advocate tradition, admire the great masters and reveal the norm to majesty. He is now a member of Oil Painting of America Society and a special guest for Modern Art Edition. His work hangs in both private and public collections in North America, Asia and Europe. Modern Art Edition in Lyndurst, New Jersey has published many prints of his work.
