John Peer

From the Payette Lakes in McCall, Idaho, his birthplace, to communities on both East and West coasts, water has always been close throughout John's life. His interest in the marine world and his love of the visual arts developed a natural course blending the two into a singular form of artistic expression and marine enjoyment. His studies took him to Oregon State University, Laguna Beach School of Art & Design and a two-year apprenticeship with abstract painter/potter Esta Brady. This experience and education cultivated the skills and disciplines needed in the development of what was to become a full-time career in fine art photography. John's unique perspective and clearly recognizable style has become familiar at many national juried fine art fairs. This exposure has created commission work in both private and corporate art collections within the USA and around the world. Technical: I use a 35mm format Canon EOS system, "L" lens, range 20mm to 300mm. Fuji Velvia ISO 50 slide film and Kodak KR 64 ISO film. UV protection filters are used on all lenses. I occasionally use a circular polarizer. Images are taken using only ambient light and all cropping is done in the viewfinder at the time the image is recorded.
