Each of our hats are made from a bundle of braided wheat straw. The plait is sewn with a special machine designed for the job. Working with a specific style or design in mind the straw is sewn starting at the top of the crown and continues in concentric circles. Viewing museum collections and watching old movies have given us some inspiration but mostly it takes time in the studio playing and experimenting. The combination of method, materials, shape and decoration are what make our hats reminiscent of times past, while still being wearable and contemporary.
