Grant Silverstein

The subjects of my etchings range from social realism to mythology. Many tell stories of various sorts, and weave lost threads from earlier centuries into treatments of contemporary themes. They are drawn with a needle on copper or zinc plates, etched in an acid bath, then hand-printed on fine paper. I usually make 20 or so artist's proofs before pulling an edition, which generally runs from 100 to 125 prints.

Born in 1953, Grant Silverstein is a self-taught artist. His specialization is in the media of intaglio etchings; he has developed a reputation as a figurative printmaker.
