A narrative body of work using trees/landscape as metaphor for the human condition , my images result from drawings made daily when traveling. In the studio images are painted on plexiglas and manipulated with rollers, brushes, fingers, etc. Then they are printed on BFK Rives using a Takach etching press.

Images are painted on Plexiglas plates with lithography inks, then printed on Arches or BFK rag paper with a Takach etching press. Plates are first beveled, then the surface is sanded to give "tooth" to hold ink. Plates are coated with solvent then many thin layers of ink are applied, then manipulated with brushes, fingers, stump and rollers. Sometimes multiple plates are used. The Landscape Series: This series of images is a result of traveling almost constantly in the US and Europe for many years. I sketch daily from sources and from memory and amass an amazing amount of material in sketchbooks, which becomes the basis for new work in the studio. All images are conceived, executed and printed solely by the artist.

I am both painter and printmaker, but as a child, watercolor and drawing came first. I'm British and there was a book/art store in my small town. I saved my few pennies of pocket money until I had enough for one small tube of color at a time. Then, as an illustrator I still continued to use watermedia and drawing. Today I create still-life and interior paintings from material in my sketchbook diaries. My paintings are executed on rag paper in pencil, watercolor, gouache and ink utilizing multilayers of transparent color until final saturation and intensity is achieved.
