Gary Stretar

I paint in both watercolor and oil. My paintings are primarily landscapes from the area in North central Ohio where I live. as well as many places I visit each year in the Great Lakes, Plains states, New England, and the Southeast. Most of my paintings are pieces painted in my studio from observations made from nature. In both mediums I employ layering, thin washes, as well as dry brush and blending.

Both my local surroundings and the areas I visit each year inspire my paintings. They are produced from my observations in the field but are more often composed and painted in the studio. My studio and gallery are housed in a converted barn near my family's home in rural North Central Ohio.
