Furong Zhang

I grew up in Shanghai China. I majored in oil painting at Shanghai Teacher's University, and then, after graduating, taught at the same college. In 1987, I received an MFA degree from Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing. I participated in many important art shows held at the Chinese National Fine Art Museum and the Shanghai Fine Art Museum. In 1989, a fellowship from Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine permitted me to continue my exploration in painting. My paintings have been shown widely including Middle Tennessee State University; Z gallery, New York; Werner Milletin, Germany; Yale-China Association, Yale University. I have also been a part of many group shows internationally. I try to use tangible images to communicate with an intangible inner world.
