Donne F. Bitner

Donne graduated with honors from Penn State University with a degree in Art, studied at the Slade School at the University of London and has been a full-time studio artist for the last 20 years. She is a senior faculty member at Crealdé School of Art and maintains a studio at McRae Art Studio in Winter Park. Donne is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Watercolor USA Honor Society, the Florida and Southern Watercolor Societies, and in 2006 she received a State of Florida Individual Artist Enhancement Grant. Her artwork can be found in many public and private collections. "I use acrylic paint, oil pastel, graphite, charcoal, and gesso in my paintings. Layering, scraping out and collage are techniques used to enrich the surface and create interesting textures. I never know what the work will look like at the end. It's painting by discovery."

Painting is full of discovery for the artist and the viewer. Somethings can’t be explained. Paintings don’t have to “be something!” It’s a painting – it’s about paint, color, design, texture and most important – emotion! Donne graduated with honors from Penn State University with a degree in Fine Art. She has been a full-time studio artist for the past 15 years. She maintains a studio at McRae Art Studios in Winter Park. Donne is also an instructor of watercolor, acrylic painting, and drawing at the Crealde School of Art.
