After 25 years of working purely in color, my current portfolio highlights black and white images. Rather than thinking in terms of landscape, portrait or still life, my subjects are mood, texture and light. Film and camera, accompanied by fog, push processed films, a variety of filters and texture screens, are all tools of my technique. In the darkroom, I have redesigned and worked an antiquated "point light" enlarging system. This tool provides an exquisite degree of flexibility in image processing. I print on both silver based media and RA process papers. I am in the process of learning "digital photography" and what it will take to produce images of quality. As I am color blind, my wife assists me in this endeavor along with a close friend and the lab he works at in Tennessee. To ignore the digital factor in photography is to hide one's head in the sand ... especially while approaching the age of 60. This scenario serves as a prelude to hopefully an entirely new portfolio for 2007.
