Through my pastel drawings, I try to bring the viewer into a vintage world where nature comes to play. Each still life begins with an idea, an old object, and flora or fauna. Shadows and reflections are an important part of each composition. Artworks are completed using soft pastel pencils or sticks on sanded pastel mat paper.

Through my still life drawings, I try to bring the viewer into a vintage world where nature comes to play. My drawings are created using sanded paper, pastel pencils, sticks and panpastels. No fixatives are used; this vulnerability adds to the presence of each piece. Artwork is framed using anti-glare glass, archival matts and simple neutral wood gallery style frames. Deana is a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America.
