Chris Dahlquist

A visual artist and creative strategist based in Kansas City, MO, with a national practice spanning more than three decades, Chris is known for her quiet, layered photographic objects and large-scale public installations, she exhibits in a variety of settings, allowing viewers to encounter stillness in unexpected places. Believing that artists belong at every table, she is also a passionate advocate, working across sectors to shape strategies, programs, and policies that empower individual artists and expand their capacity to create change. With pragmatism and creativity, she disrupts conventional models to reimagine how artists might engage with communities, institutions, and the built environment.

Since 1998, Kansas City based visual artist Chris Dahlquist has exhibited extensively throughout the United States. Committed to the accessibility of art, Dahlquist exhibits in traditional and non-traditional settings and creates large-scale public installations allowing audiences to encounter and interact with photographic objects in unexpected ways. Dahlquist’s works are held in many individual, corporate and civic collections, have won countless awards in top juried art fairs around the country and grant funding from Mid-America Art Alliance, Metropolitan Kansas City Arts Council and Anonymous Was a Woman. In addition to her studio practice, Dahlquist brings her passionate pragmatism to a community practice helping artists build sustainable careers through developed curriculums, workshops, lectures, community building, and one-on-one mentoring.
