Charles Tersolo

Fine Artist Charles Tersolo was born in New Hampshire in 1974, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of New Hampshire with a BA in Studio Art. Working full-time in Boston as an oil painter for the last ten years, Charles creates Color Realist oil works painted in seven layers. The varnish in hand-mixed oil tubes makes layers diaphanous. The seven layers include Rough Draw, Gold, Rough Color, Blue, Final Under Layer, Final, and Detail. For his Virtual Plein-Air technique, Mr. Tersolo trained in photography to take dark, richly colored digital originals. He then lightens and manipulates them into slideshows for each of the seven layers. As some shadow and color is created by light trapped between layers, the contrast and color of each work varies with lighting and position of the viewer. Charles creates works that capture the original beauty of inspiring places; their changeability.
