April Davis

April Davis was born in New York City. She holds a BA degree from Queens College, and received her MFA degree from Indiana University in Bloomington on a teaching assistantship. "My work has always been representational, either landscape or still life. Since moving to Florida, I have focused primarily on landscape and most importantly on Florida's incredible light. My hope is to create a sense of beauty and peace in my paintings, an image the viewer can move into, an image that stills the mind. I work in acrylic, on canvas averaging five feet by six feet. The paintings are not traditionally stretched; instead, they hang from framing molding on the top and bottom as wall hangings." Teaching experience includes positions at the University of Pittsburgh, Indiana University, and Montgomery Community College in Rockville, Maryland. She has taught classes in Oil Painting, Watercolor, Drawing, and Design. Her works have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums on the East Coast as well as corporate and private collections.
