I am a concrete sculptor. While I have experimented with almost every medium under the sun including photography, acrylic and oil painting, etc., for many reasons concrete remains my favorite. Concrete allows me to use its cracks, crevices and textures to create what I consider to be impressionistic sculptures. I love the look of anything that has aged or deteriorated with time – things that have a history to them – and concrete allows me to recreate those things. I carve or make impressions in the concrete before it hardens and add color with acid stains, acrylic paint or metallic powders after the piece cures. I like to involve all the senses so many additional elements are added including bells, live plants, candles and oil lamps to name a few. Hopefully all this adds up to sculptures that evoke a feeling of peacefulness, nostalgia and wonder.
