Follow-up
Posted on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 at 7:10 pmJen: There are several follow-ups I’d like to ask you to address.
- Access to the house – If you’re to give me access to the house during next week, please email Morris’ office.
- Archery – This really could be a mixer. So, I’m eager to encourage it by exploring local clubs, and finding books and DVDs. Is there enough interest? Will you ask Ellen how much she wants to do? Are you able to arrange for the arrows? Pine needle bales?
- Clarinet – Ellen has twice mentionned she wants a plastic reed. She has also said at least one valve is not seated properly. Though the reed is available at the SamAsh store, logistically it may be easy to purchase online – Fibracell, Legere are the two I found. If you would like me to order one, please have Ellen choose it and tell me to place the order. Repair materials must be purchased online at JL Smith. However, Ellen should be told that the valve may be easily re-seated by blowing the valve with a hair dryer until it’s warm and then pressing it into the hole firmly and holding for sixty seconds or so.
- Math Grades – Ellen has said a few things about her final math grade that suggest to me the instructor might reconsider the grade if Ellen were to dig up her math assignments and demonstrate she did them all and their cummulative score meritted reconsideration. Even if that is not the case, I would like to see her math assignments for last year.
- Air conditioner – Please let me know what is going on there. If you think it would help to do a coil cleaning, like was done for Danny, let me do that next week.
- Snapper – Finally got that fixed. Cost $75. It was the carburetor. Said it was Ethanol’s fault. Quien sabe?
- Killer wood – What about piling the killer wood around the oak by the back wall? Kill the tree. Save the wall. Plant the flowers.
- Heaven’s Gate – Ordered a half pound of Gulf Coast & Southern Florida Wildflower Seed Mix. Salesman said you throw it now and see it in spring … if the birds didn’t get it first … or it was hit by RoundUp.
- BIP Homework – This week is Trust and Support on the Equality Wheel.
- Ellen’s thyroid – Can I get more on this?
- Handy wipes – Don’t you think it would be a good idea for L& to have a cache of handywipes in her school and band locker?
- 7 Habits – I’ll get that tomorrow.
- Triskaidekaphobia – Fear of the number thirteen requires that this list not end on that number.
- Walk – I am going now to stimulate the flow of seratonin in my brain cells.
Later,
David
D: Answers to your questions.
1. Access Taken care of, as you noted.
2. Archery Ellen is interested. The bow you bought her is really nice. Talk to her tomorrow about books and DVDs…let her be involved in deciding what books/DVDs with you. As for my end…we did find a leather arm guard on line from a store in CA for around $15. I only looked at your links for arrows briefly…will get back to it and will get the Pine Needle bale.
3. Clarinet: We bought plastic reeds at Sam Ash tonight. Rico Plasticover #3…they were recommended by her music teacher (set of 5/$14). I’ll tell Ellen about the blow dryer trick.
4. Math Grades: Ellen will be organizing her math homework from last year this weekend. I’ll let her know you’d like to see her work. Will get back in touch with her math teacher from last year next week.
5. Air Conditioner: I’ll post a separate post.
6. Snapper: Looking forward to getting it back!
7. Killer Wood: Kill a tree…save the wall…you know I’d like a better option. You also know that I’ll be practical about the importance of saving the wall…the flowers help.
8. Heaven’s Gate: Perfect flower for El Jardin Diostede.
9. BIP Homework: Good topic.
10. Ellen’s thyroid: Ellen told me she felt she had been getting/feeling more tired lately. When we went to Dr. Holson for her physical her iron was on the low side of the normal limits. Ellen suggested testing her thyroid as she knows just about everyone on my side of the family has issues with it. We have started to alternate days taking an iron capsule and then a multi-vitamin. I feel very tired, too…just had my blood tested today for my thyroid…will go to the doctor next week to review the results. I’m taking Ellen in see the doctor next Wednesday…will let you know how it goes.
11. Handy wipes: Good idea. I just bought a couple of containers of wipes for Ellen and her classes and gave her liquid hand sanitizer, too.
12. 7 Habits – I read chapter 1.
13. Triskaidekaphobia – Yikes!
14. Walking – Think I’ll follow your example.
15. Family Times – I did not hear back from anyone…we’ll bring the knitting tomorrow and ask when we arrive.
16. Shuttle – Supposed to blast off at 11:59 pm tonight. I’m setting my alarm.
Hasta,
Jen
Jen: Ellen hasn’t finished the hat she was doing for Mom. I’ve called Family Ties to see if she can bring it tomorrow and finish while I read to her. They could give me a definite answer on needles. They said they would call you if needles are permitted.
I have a book to read to Ellen either way. Of course, if she has something in mind, we can do that.
