David: Thanks for your posts…and Pookie’s. Here’s the update from today:
Ventilator settings are being decreased – this is a good thing.
Dad is less sedated…opening eyes…following instructions…smiled at Sue (she came down last night – Aunt Deb decided to come down, too – today – she is leaving early Monday morning).
Dad is steadily improving, chest has improved (nothing growing in lungs)…is being treated for MRSA.
Our plans are staying the same…I’ll see my Dad Monday morning.
We have been having a really good time…have taken lots of photos, but still need to upload.
Walked for 8 hours today. All are tired.
It is good to be able to pray from anywhere in the world.

Jen: My mother called me. She wanted to know if I’d taken care of Buddy. She wanted to know how the day went. She wanted to know where I was going to sleep. And she wanted to let me know a little about Uncle Duck when he got pneumonia.
She said Duck got pneumonia four times in a month. She said Duck already had emphysema, so that complication made it more difficult to really get rid of the pneumonia. She said Duck went a little crazy when he got pneumonia – his thinking was off, and even wierd.
Anyway, Mom said she wasn’t planning to go see your dad today, and she’d no idea what plans had been made for Ellen to see him.
Don’t forget, Ellen knows how to use the bus.
Anway, I thought about your dad today while I was cutting grass, shopping for mower blades, busting a knuckle torquing off a stubborn bolt, cleaning the pool filter, straightening the tools, feeding hungry, blind toucan chicks, and doing all those little thankless, stupid, household things that yield to a man’s strength and stubbornness.
Now I’m going to go to sleep, and sleep right through the rockets’ red glare, and the bombs bursting in air.
Happy fourth. David
