dad’s back

Posted in Ellen | 6 Comments »

Ellen: My dad is back in town. He was away last week golfing in South Carolina with some of his buddies from Park Lake. He’s asked me to sit with him tonight and watch a movie. So, I’m going to do that.
While I’m sitting in front of the TV I’m going to take a close look at the two iBooks I got from the house. I’m hoping the old one has all the RAM I’m looking for. If it does, I’ll figure out how to put it in the the brand-new-second-hand iBook so that you can have a computer again if you can keep your mom’s hands off it.
By the time you read this I am guessing you and your mom will have figured out what you’re doing about your invitation to go with Mattie and her parents to church Sunday. My advice to you if you do not go is to thank Mattie for the invitation but tell her you would rather worship with her on another occassion and would like to get together soon just the two of you. My advice to you if you do go is to encourage Mattie directly or indirectly to sit next to her dad during worship and to make a point before and after the service to ask James questions like the stories behind his tattoos, how he met Marie, what was he doing when Mattie was being born, and you might also tell him his nose is just like Mattie’s and his eyes are just like hers, and stuff like that. If you wear a little bluetooth phone in your ear, I can tell you what to say LIVE while you’re standing in front of him wondering what to say next. Kidding. You know. Anyway, going or not going, it should be about worship and about family, and you can make both of those happen as they should. Dad

Apology

Ellen and David: I want to apologize to each of you…to both of you. I interfered with your blogging. Last night I asked you (Ellen) if you were going to blog to your Dad (you David)…to let him know – at the least – that you read his recent posts. I was being controlling and I apologize to you…to each of you. What you blog, when you blog, how long or short you blog – even while our posts are there for all to see – is between you. Recently, David (your Dad) wrote me (your Mom) the following: Change…good luck with that. I understand now. I have had two instances where I had the opportunity to show growth, change and instead, so easily, fell back into old habits. This depressed me and made me sad. It took me back to Step 1: I am powerless…and I went to a meeting where the topic was forgiveness…so, I’ll ask you two to  forgive me as I remain in progress. Mom/Jen
