Girl’s PATH and Water Mania!

Posted in Circle F | No Comments »

The ladies of Pioneer Land returned this morning with faces painted and a bit more nature-savvy. With the first PATH (Pioneer Adventure Teambuilding Hike) of this session completed, we are more pumped then ever about how much our Pioneers love the outdoors! We began last night at 5:00 pm, and hiked around the beautiful Sunset Lake. We had several team building activities, teaching the Pioneers leadership, friendship, teamwork, creativity, communication, and the importance of taking care of oneself. The night was concluded with wonderful sac burgers that we cooked over an open camp fire, and of course, smores. After making our own shelters out of tarps and rope, we settled down for a good night’s rest under the pines in the back part of the Circle F property.

We marched in this morning with our face paint (ash from the fire) and concluded our “PATH” with the traditional lake run.

It is so true that we are one big happy family here at Circle F! It is a beautiful thing, sharing each other’s stories, laughter, love, and water craziness!

Tonight’s evening activity was Water Mania- a fantastic program focused on cooling down and soaking suds! The first station is giant slip n’ slide… a soapy spin on the summer classic plastic runway. We just add some soap, some rubber inner tubes, and the Co-bucks are slipping down all the way to Pioneer land!

Other water games are spread out through camp so everyone has an opportunity to race, throw sponges at opponents, and try to fill their buckets the fastest.

We can only hope your day was as eventful as ours! Here from Circle F, we wish you a Tremedous Thursday- all day long!

So many things to fix – So little time!
No wonder I’m chronically fatigued.
At the end of my first day back I want to leave! Wow! Please, don’t make me come back. This place is talking at me all the time. The ligustrums are talking at me. The grass in the gutter is talking at me. The palms growing along the fence line is talking at me. The missing mini-blind in the computer room is talking at me. The sharp edges left on the bedroom lamp is talking at me. The grime on the lid of the hot shot is talking at me. The three eggs in the Collards’ log is talking at me. The remnants of the inflatable pool is talking at me. The undesired tenants of the butterfly garden is talking at me. The pool pump is talking at me. The oven on the carport is talking at me, and the barn owl house is talking at me, too. Everybody’s talking at me. The racket is wearing me o-u-t!!!
Emptied the indoor fridge to let it thaw overnight.
Changed the battery in the riding lawn mower.
Did the lawn. Hit all the regular spots with Round-Up.
The small mower is missing a bolt I think; when I pulled the crank, the top nearly came off. I can’t fix that this weekend. Maybe I’ll take it with me.
The pool pump did exactly what you said it would. I disconnected it from the pool, removed the cover, plugged it in, turned it on, and it worked. Put it back together, primed it, and it worked. Who knows?
I did rinse it out. I also removed the short blue hose under the pump, cut an end off after I saw it leaking, re-attached it, and, as I’ve said, it worked. The pump must have a Higher Power that chose to spare it from the county dump.
I missed mucadines.
I missed muberries.
I missed the last gasp of the black bamboo.
Saw familiar old rag sheets hanging in George’s back window.
Nobody ere eetz griiitz?
And this computer needs a new system install. Lost are Mail’s preferences – hence, no way to automatically input the password.
It’s a good thing Pookie’s given up the chase – I’m pooped … and, now, it’s all coming back to me … I want a condo!

Another Fantastic Day

Hello camp family,
What a day! A day at camp is like a week in the “real” world or so the saying goes at camp…it is soooo true. The day was filled with activities and laughter. Trail riding, rock climbing, paintball, sports, arts and crafts, spirit squad, photography, nature lore (they found a yellow rat snake) and the kids have talked about it all day. The best part of the day is watching the kids be kids. They walk together and talk and laugh without a care. The activities are wonderful but the friends and relationships make camp fantastic. Tonight we had the YeeHaw dance. There were lots of cowboys and cowgirls. There was hay and even a horse made an appearance. The youngest campers had their hayride tonight and had stories around the campfire and s’mores. The Wranglers won a movie and pizza during “Deal or No Deal” the other night and are enjoying that treat this evening. I’m not sure what they find more exciting, pizza, the movie or staying up later than the Pioneers! Tomorrow will surely prove to be exciting. We are having “Zany Olympics” and general swim in the morning and “Carnival” in the afternoon. We will post pictures for you so you can join in the fun. Enjoy your weekend and your time. It is only one week until we see you once again. Boy, does time fly!

Key and a few other things

Posted in Jen & Ellen | 1 Comment »

Hi again,

The house key is with Ken at your Dad’s office…go ahead and keep it.

Reminder: Lock on shed is the new one; combo on the back door.

A few other things: Ellen’s computer had trouble booting…it is on now (sleep mode). Lamp in bedroom busted…looks menacing…but isn’t in the way.

Good weather will be nice here and in Atlanta. I hope you enjoy your weekend, too.

Done/Undone

Hello David,

I’m sorry that when you pull in the driveway you won’t find a perfectly manicured lawn. The lawn is half done or half undone, depending on how you look at it. I can give you all the reasons and excuses…but I’ll spare myself (and you). I do need to tell you that Ken’s lawn mower is in the shed. It started fine…when I stopped to move the something, it wouldn’t restart. No smoke…No indications…gas level was fine…oil level was fine (Ken said not to put too much in it. So I let it set overnight…next day started fine…again stopped to move the sprinklers, wouldn’t restart…put in fresh gas…nothing. So, if you have the chance to mow, and it starts…don’t stop! Whatever you can do will be appreciated. JT
